Cedar Pergola Deck & Hot Tub

A wide composite deck run off the back of the house and finished in a deep mahogany stain, with a cedar pergola built over the full length of it. The lattice top throws shade across the boards through the afternoon while still letting the sky through, and the posts are sized and stained to match the railing so the whole structure reads as one piece.

A hot tub set into the deck at one end, a built-in bench seat off the stairs, and a second freestanding cedar pergola out on the lawn to anchor the far side of the yard. Capped composite for the deck surface (chosen for the long Carolina UV), pressure-treated framing, ledger flashed and lag-bolted clean, and a paver patio tying the deck down to grade.
