What it is

A deck lives or dies below the boards. Footings sized to the soil, a ledger flashed and lagged into the house, joists spaced for the decking you choose: that is the work that decides whether a deck feels solid in year twelve. The finish is the easy part. We build both like they matter, because one fails without the other.

Materials & Options

The choices that decide the build

Specifics, not slogans, so you know what you're paying for and why.

Composite (Trex, TimberTech)

Capped composite for homeowners who want to stop sanding and staining. Higher up front, near-zero maintenance after. Holds color through Carolina summers and carries a 25-to-50-year warranty depending on line.

Pressure-treated pine

The value build. Done right (kiln-dried-after-treatment boards, tight fastening, a finish coat once it cures), a PT deck lasts 15-plus years and costs roughly half of composite.

Western red cedar

For the deck you want to look at, not just stand on. Cedar stays cool underfoot, takes stain beautifully, and pairs with horizontal slat railings for a cleaner line than pickets.
